What’s the point of having an epoxy garage floor? Garage floors are usually just basic grey concrete. Grease, oil, and chemical stains turn ordinary grey concrete into an unsightly eyesore over time. An epoxy garage floor coating will provide you with years of service, durability, and resistance to most stains, as well as a beautiful, completed surface that will help to protect the value of your property.Learn more by visiting Houston Epoxy Floor Coating
Epoxy Floor Coating Systems That Are Most Common
There are three typical solutions that will improve the look of your garage floor:
- Solid Color Epoxy & Polyurethane System
- Polyurethane Top Coat System with Epoxy Chipstone (partial vinyl chip spread).
- Polyurethane Top Coat System with Epoxy Granitex (100 percent vinyl chip broadcast). Keep in mind that there are ‘excellent,’ ‘better,’ and ‘best’ epoxy garage floor solutions with these three epoxy systems.
The Beneficial System
The epoxy polyurethane solid colour system will last roughly 5-7 years without care, but will require a pigmented polyurethane maintenance coat. This garage floor coating is typically a two-coat, thin film system with thicknesses ranging from 4 to 20 mils. It’s sprayed on with a roller or an airless sprayer.
The More Effective System
The epoxy Chipstone system will last around 7-12 years before requiring a clear polyurethane maintenance coat. One coloured primer coat of epoxy; a pigmented colour coat with a partial/light broadcast of vinyl chips into the wet epoxy; and a single coat of clear polyurethane for protection are typical components of this epoxy garage floor system. The thickness is between 20 and 30 mils.
